Adrienne Figueiredo, art therapist at Brooklyn North

Hi, I’m Adrienne Figueiredo.

I started Brooklyn North after 15+ years as a therapist — and a first career as an artist. I still teach in NYU’s graduate art therapy program, so there’s real clinical training behind the room, not just good intentions. Most of my work is talk therapy, with art and EMDR brought in when they genuinely help.

My Approach

I meet you where you are. Some people come for straight talk therapy; others want to work somatically with EMDR for attachment trauma or CPTSD, or bring art into the room to say what words can’t reach yet. I work especially closely with artists and creative professionals in film and music — I know the particular weight of making things for a living. Wherever we start, the pace is yours.

Two ways in

Talk therapy, EMDR, or both. We choose what fits what you’re carrying, and change course when we need to.

An artist’s eye

I came up making work, so I understand the creative life from the inside — not as a metaphor, as a job.
